BBC - 'Sex and The Church'

Post by Aslan_HQ on Sat Apr 11, 2015 6:53 pm

Did anyone catch the BBC program yesterday on the church's historical attitude towards sex?

The documentary shows Professor Diarmaid MacCulloch (author of one of our bestselling titles; 'Silence: A Christian History') exploring how Christianity has shaped the western world's attitudes towards sex, gender and sexuality throughout history, and onwards toward today's mixed approach across denominations.
Although seemingly aimed at non-Christians with very basic / minimal knowledge of the Bible, it's still a interesting watch.

The first installment is available on BBC iPlayer for the next 30 days.

I may have a look in on that as I missed it in the TV schedules.

Thought this was very good and I look forward to the next episode.

Just goes to show how the Bible's words can be distorted to such an extent that the original intent of the author is all but lost. Makes you wonder which of today's 'non-negotiables' are actually culturally-driven..?
